It's The Six Pointer Game Time Of Year

Home >Story Index> Leyton Orient Preview

"A Must Win Six-Pointer" is a phrase often used in football and tomorrow that is most definitely the case as Swansea travel to Leyton Orient to take on the O's as we look for a much needed win, our first in eight if it happens.
It is not happy times at the Vetch with some fans voicing their discontent about the league position, performances, lack of ability in front of goal and relegation fears beginning to settle in. A win tomorrow and things look a little bit rosier, a defeat and we fall at least one place in the league table.
Let's have a look first at the team news from the Swansea camp. Both Nick Cusack and Andy Mumford should be available and it is my guess that Colin Addison will start the game with the same side that started against Plymouth on Tuesday night. Despite many believing that we should switch to a 4-4-2 formation, Addison clearly is a fan of wing backs and is likely to stick at the start with what he believes in.
Leyton Orient on the other hand will hand home debuts to both Matthew Brazier and Kevin Nugent, names familiar from their time with our blue friends up the road. Steve Watts could also be restored to the O's starting line-up.
Swansea fans will well remember the solidarity showed by Leyton Orient fans when they visited the Vetch earlier in the season, especially the Petty Out banner that was shown. Some Swans fans will be meeting up with Orient fans before the game for a thankyou pint and no doubt the odd glass will be raised in celebration at a battle won.
Swansea's support will also be helped by a contingent from Belgium who are coming over for a game, the first time they have seen the Swans since a 1-0 win at Barnet towards the end of the championship season.
This game is vitally important to both clubs and Swansea will be looking for a win to re-start their season and begin their move away from the relegation zone. Speaking to JackArmy.net earlier today, Roger Freestone summed up the mood in the Swansea hotel saying "We need this win badly. We played well the other night against Plymouth and with a touch of luck we could have easily got something out of the game. It was disappointing to lose but we have to pick ourselves up for Saturday and go all out to get the three points. If the fans get behind us as well then it will be a massive boost for the lads and we are all confident that we can get something out there tomorrow."
Let's hope that Roger's words are right and this time tomorrow we are talking about a Swansea win.
