It was a repeat of the 2007 FA Vase Final

If Rupert Lowe wants a vox pop of what Saints supporters are thinking at this moment, he could do worse than have spent Saturday afternoon at Testwood Park watching Totton take on Truro in a top of the table clash.

It wasnt the 36,000 or so that watched the game when the clubs clashed at Wembley just under two years ago, but the 600 or so in the ground contained many Saints supporters, many sporting some sort of allegiance to the St Mary's club.

The two clubs were formed within a year of each other, Saints in 1885 and the Stags a year later, however whilst their paths have been somewhat different over the past century or so, the blunt truth is Totton have more chance of seeing their 125th anniversary that Saints have.

Sadly Totton were to lose this game as they did the wembley fixture in a big blow to their title hopes, however truth is they had most of the play and fell to two sucker blows, a penalty on the stroke of ha;f time and a breakaway goal as they pushed hard for an equaliser, sound familiar ?

Most disallusioned Saints fans in the bar afterwards though agreed that they were sick of professional football and the big money business it has become, watching Totton was refreshing, a club that is being built up and run by local people, its enjoying the best spell in its history in contrast with Saint, its worth a trip down.
