Family Reunion For Liverpudlian Anderson

Anderson In Family Footsteps

Few would have realised when the name of Swansea City was paired with Billericay Town in the first round of the FA Cup that it would give Paul Anderson the chance to follow in his family's footsteps.

His grandparents will be at the game tomorrow whilst his father - Phil - had a spell with Ricay's reserve side.

And with Anderson the Swans leading scorer at the moment - level on 8 with Jason Scotland - he is hopeful that he will put on a display for his family and help his side into the second round

Speaking to the Evening Post, the Liverpool winger said My nan and granddad were happy when the draw was made because they haven't seen me play since I was a youngster playing local football

"They haven't watched me since I came into professional football, so I'm hoping I get selected tomorrow because all the family are coming along.

"My dad played left-back," adds Anderson junior. "I think he was half-decent, but I wish he was playing now because I reckon I'm quicker than he was and I'm a better player than he was!

"He moved to Billericay when he met my mum and trained with the club for about a month.

"He played a few games for their second team, but ended up joining another local club, Harlow, because he had a mate who played for them.

"Everyone expects us to win, but we all know what can happen in the cup," he says.

"We will prepare as if it is a league game and I think our attitude will be the key.

"Billericay will be right up for it, and for the first hour they will probably be right on us and will give us a good game.

"But we train every day, so hopefully in the last half hour we'll come into our own and start taking over the game."
