The Watford caretaker manager was clearly a happy man after his side was the first to leave the Liberty this season with a win

Watford truiumphed 1-0 just two days after losing the league encounter but he told BBC Sport after the game "We wanted to make sure we got through tonight.

"It is a great confidence booster for the lads to be in the quarter-final. It's something the players needed to happen tonight.

"They've worked immensely hard over the last four days.

"We showed tonight that we don't give away sloppy goals and that's the key to turning the ship around."
