![]() Friday, 13th Mar 2009 10:53 Dutch shot-stopper Dorus De Vries has signalled his intent on staying at the club despite growing concern over his future. Stalling on signing a new contract the 28 year old could leave on a free transfer in the summer but De Vries is more than happy to stay at the club as he told the SWEP, he said “ Of course I am happy to stay at Swans.We have a great squad and, as a player, sometimes you need to meet certain key figures in your career.” Thanking Swans boss Roberto Martinez for making the call that brought him from Dunfermline Athletic to South Wales despite interest from from Premiership side Wigan Athletic, the former Ado Den Haag man believes that the Spaniard has been one of the key figures in his footballing career to date “ I think Roberto Martinez is one of them for me.I am really fortunate that two years ago he gave me a call and asked me to come and join Swansea City. There was a lot of interest in me at that time because I'd had a good season up in Scotland, but I think a good choice coming to Swansea. Continuing his Swansea fairytale De Vries has also admitted he does not want to walk away from the club, he added "Everything has started to bloom since I came down here, for me and for the club, and Roberto Martinez has done a great job.I want to continue that story - I don't want to walk away."
