Now we are averaging three goals a game and they are coming from a number of players. Are we really in need of one guy for the opposition to centre on or are we better with a lot of threats all over the pitch? I think the latter and would first spend on a good keeper instead. Goals against cost games. [Post edited 10 Dec 12:54]

He's improved this season imo and his distribution is a factor in our build up play from the back thats often leading to our best attacks. I'd love to move McCarthy on and bring in some decent competion for him though as we know he'll still cost us points with his dubious shot stopping at times. Your right about the goal distribution and Armstrong has shown yet again he's a top striker in the Championship after a period where myself included thought the game was up for him at Saints. I'd still bring in a big tall striker though to give us a plan B and an outlet when we're under pressure and sadly there's no way I'd trust Ross Stewart anymore with his endless injuries and Downs is definitely not a hold up player. A better CB who can actually win headers would be nice ...we miss Bednarek .

I'm also for getting a Keeper in January, but only if there is a decent one available to actually improve us.

He plays more like a false nine dropping into space in midfield. That's great but it won't always work. It didn't work against Millwall because they blocked off the passes into him in those positions. There will be games (and times in games) when we need different options - someone who can hold the ball up with a CB on his back and someone who can win headers in a crowded box. The more teams suss us out, the more we will need this option. Pep made it popular to play with a false nine, but he knows he needs the traditional qualities of a centre forward too. Same reason Barca play Lewandowski and same reason we still need a CF too.

AA is playing really well and is proven at this level but the jury is still out on Stewart, Downs and Archer. I know Kieffer Moore has his admirers but I watched him miss an absolute sitter last night. One of my criticisms of AA was that he wasn’t clinical enough but he seems very precise with his finishing at the moment. Daddy Ings scored the other night too. We must be able to pick someone else up to help with the promotion push.
