I think we live in times where very little stays secret for very long. If there are no charges brought against the 5 guys who were initially arrested then I can’t see what would stop them selling their story to the highest bidder. |

Just discovered Paris Police 1900 on BBC iPlayer. Very good and three more seasons to watch. Reminds me very much of Vienna Blood which was excellent and set in the same period of History. |

The latest theory I’ve seen is that the member of the public (who apparently has not been spoken to by the Police ??) actually saw a joint UK Special forces/MI5/CIA team who were engaged on a legitimate operation against a real threat and that was who Gloucestershire Police ‘arrested’. This would explain the bail decision. Basically the whole thing has been a massive cock up.
I’m sure the truth will eventually come out but it’s entertaining to read all the theories….well, most of them. [Post edited 30 Sep 10:30]

Could this story get any more bizarre? One of the suspects rang the Police and apparently grassed his mates up!! Everyone seemed to have a theory on the arrests but this latest development was not on any one’s bingo card. |

I didn’t watch the game. I was unaware of any alleged racist chanting at that game until you mentioned it. Racist chants are bad, obviously. How have I been hypocritical or shown double standards? |

Totally understand your position. My point initially was regarding hypocrisy and double standards I don’t see any issue in calling that out. And anti semitism should always have a bright light shone on it. |

I don’t recall any outrage when the Irish cricket team played several matches against an Afghanistan, currently ruled by the Taliban and a country that supports several ISIS training camps . It seems women’s rights and education don’t matter or maybe they like being hypocrites or maybe it is just good old fashioned anti semitism which seems to be particularly prevalent in Ireland
I hold those Afghan cricketers equally as responsible for their ‘Govt’ as I do the Israeli footballers for theirs. [Post edited 28 Sep 10:46]

That why I wrote ‘by mutual consent’. Scrap the contract, no financial repercussions. End of. Tell me why that’s not possible if both clubs agree.
There could be other factors at play as to why a loan player isn’t being selected rather than just not being good enough. The manager could, for example, just enjoy being a dick. [Post edited 26 Sep 22:36]

The clubs level of sleep monitoring would have made a far better question at the recent fans forum rather than street signs.
ps. Re Thatcher. I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t have been around in the 70s. The constant power cuts, swathes of derelict bomb damaged sites left untouched for decades, rubbish piled up in Trafalgar Square and being held hostage to the blackmail of the Unions was not fun. She was far from perfect and I’m not a Thatcherite but by God she turned this country around from the sick man of Europe to its leading light. It’s now very trendy to slag her off when what she achieved (at admittedly great cost to some communities) was remarkable. |
