Boring Saturday.

Just the one injury time winner (Barrow) and no red cards.

Carlisle seem to have found their mojo with second win on the trot.
Alti found Borehamwood away a bridge too far, despite leading at half time
Yeovil Valley put 6 past Boston Red Socks
H4lifax win. Up to an impressive 13th
Hartlepool? Miss a pen then lose 0-1. When things are bad, they are bad.

7 point lead for Borehamwood as their impressive start continues. Southend and Harrogate trying to keep up

Flint’s sliding block in the first half kept it at 0-0 and for 65 minutes they in truth looked more likely to score.

Manny on, Francis off, Gilmour back in central midfield, Hayes on for unfortunate victim of circumstances Hannant and it totally changed the game.

Tasker great shout for man of match, Wilson was fantastic too.

The impact of Flint on this team cannot be measured.

Hope Smith is just a knock, but as this season has gone, will end up out for 12 months.

Robbie confirmed by Posh and piccies of his first day on twitter.

Leaving for a bigger club at this stage of the season?

Polar opposite to his stance when Mendy wanted to leave during last season to Hearts.

Robbie Savage is not taking control tomorrow night of FGR apparently.

He is in talks to manage Peterborough.

Football really is who you know, not what you evidently know.

From a time before the backpass rule was introduced and evidently scoreboards to, as Dale fans sang ‘one nil, one nil, one nil, one nil…’ in case any Burnley fans were unaware of the scoreline

I can’t help myself but check their results above anything over League 2.

Borehamwood 6 points clear as Southend demonstrated their previous seasons hot/cold ability to follow up their 6-1 away win with a 4-2 defeat.

I assume most Daleys wishing them success this season?

Aldershot and Yeovil playoff spots following massive overhaul of staff in the summer.

Alrincham punching well on 18 points after losing their first 3

Carlisle 19th
Scunny 20th
Hartlepool 21st

All upsetting bookies odds.

4 red card weekend.

Bilongo, Beckwith, Moss, TAR. Left back position must feel like the cursed shirt right now.

At 2-1 a perfect cross went across for Brown to head in. He managed to get his head on it but was dangling from his shirt being pulled back as absolutely obvious as anybody but the ref could see. Absolute stonewall penalty.

10 seconds later he gave Tobi the red.

Flint 3/3 for awesome performances. Wilson was fantastic today too. No coincidence and wonder how many points from last 3 we would have had without him.

Middleton super impressive too, the first goal was class, he put other crossses in also that were spot on. Try getting him out if the team if you can, army of wingers.

Great save by Sam near the end. Choices for manager when both fit after today and Tuesday performances.

Deserved win, we’re ok at this L2 lark again.

After the pelters that Ramming got for his ‘cruyf turn’ I’m surprised nobody has mentioned the absolute awful no look pass with less than 2 minutes to go that led to their 2nd goal.

When Waller booted it out for a throw in after it went 3-2 under the main stand, i got York heebie-geebies and so it came to pass.

Awesome effort by the young lads from Liverpool with 10 men.

Southend awful second half

Halifax doing just fine.

Altrincham good win again, assist for Barlow.

Taryn and Bird score for Borehamwood. Booty obligatory red card

Carlisle lose. Forest Green lose. Hartlepool lose. Thought they were all going to walk the league with York/Dale gone

Scunny in bottom 4. Second seasonitis

2 games
0 goals

Well done back line (and a heap of luck/poor finishing)

Wind played a big factor today, clearances, throw ins all were going far shorter into the wind than with it. Ball for our second goal would have not reached in the first half.

Oldham bossed the first half with the wind.
Second half they struggled and Flint for me won everything into the box.

Liked Middleton, worked tirelessly both directions. Thought Gilmour had a good game also.

Not pretty, but pretty much needed 3 points.

He had a very good debut.

Football-wise solid, no mistakes, lots of good work.

Leadership - very good. Wilson particularly appeared to be all ears, Ramming also on a couple of occasions too.

Seen this in Lancs FB group and on twitter for starters.

Its been annus horribilis and then some. Still, we have the most players in the England ODI squad, future must be bright.

So, a return to last season’s formation after one league game. Made sense and my personal view was that the new manager had tried to change too much too soon.

Even so, quite a lot of personnel change.

East in Rodney’s position
Brown in Barlow’s position
Francis in East’s position
New LCH and RCH and Keeper.

First half i thought we were getting battered on our right and goal came from there. We did well to get back into the game but naivity cost us.

Eels into Mani tap back to Gilmour and through ball to Brown looked on the cards. Gilmour instead ran into 3, lost the ball and they broke for the penalty straight from it.

That was one of the things i saw yesterday, Gilmour trying to do a bit too much occasionally. Fully understandable, same as with East, they are both wholehearted players who would run through treacle for the team.

We’ve gone from signing lots of wingers to being 5-2-3 formation which means the likes of S-D and Hannant bench warming for now.

Thought we played it out from the back better than Newport and thought Francis distribution was good. Brown showed glimpses of his ability.

No idea how long Beckwith and Maguire are out for, but hopefully not too long to aide the struggling back line.

Wingers.

Likes: Space, getting defenders 1v1, early crosses, target man.
Dislikes: Slow ball, defence all back, target man double marked.

Refwatch - Bradford City v Rochdale (Carabao Cup Round 1)
at 19:53 8 Aug 2026

You could tell Eels felt bad for his mistake at FT, when players and managers took applause from the fans after FT, Eels trudged off alone down the tunnel after the briefest of time there.

L2 is faster and stronger than NL
L1 is faster and stronger than L2

The press by Bradford once they had got over the first 10 minutes was fearsome, not one, two , three players pressing, the whole team. Kinda what you should expect from s top 6 team on league 1 really.

We struggled numerous times to play out, heart in mouth moments, and ultimately the first goal after the under hit pass. Second half much the same.

They were simply too strong for us.

Onto positives

Keeper: Really good game - confident in this young man after the two cup games
Bilongo: Decent game at LB, the area most concerned over
Dubes: Created chances, two for example in second half where cut back from byline but nobody there

Other mainstay players from last season had decent games against tough opponents, one or two not so.

Thought their number 6 was awesome, he has signed from Stockport.
