Pessimism is a luxury that nobody should allow themselves. Anyone can beat anyone in this league. We edged out Sheff U on Wednesday and they cleaned Ipswich's clock on Saturday. Pessimism leads to weakness...Optimism leads to power. The next 6 wins from 7 run is just around the corner... .. I think... |

This is too much information but it is a true story.. I had a colonoscopy a few days after the Leicester 9-0. The poor unfortunate bloke doing it asked me if I supported a football team. I said no, I support the Saints. Looking down at me with the co-axial cable in his hand he grinned and said "bloody hell mate, this really isn't your week is it ?" |

The total irony being that Hasenhuttl IS a millionaire....thanks to SFC. |

The line up was fine for me. Experience at the back. Stewart time managed...he has been crocked 90% of his time on our books after all...Armstrong in...he is is still one of the league's top scorers. Fellows is a decent player but I must have missed the point at which he became an un-droppable world beater. Overall summary is that a team short on away wins recently, got an away draw at a team that hasn't lost much recently. Hate to be Harry Hindsight, but that was always a very likely outcome to me. Hopefully nobody is deluded enough to think today was a crushing blow to our chances of promotion. |

Good hunting to all there tomorrow. Perhaps Nick can channel his inner Bill Shakespeare and deliver this final rallying call in his best Henry V voice to the massed ranks prior to kick off. "We few, we happy few, we band of brothers For he today who sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother be he ne'er so vile This day shall gentle his condition And gentlemen in England now a - bed Shall think themselves accursed they were not here And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks That fought with us on Saints victory day." On second thoughts, Nick, just tell them to " sing your bollox off " |

Should've joined Citeh...has to be a cheap laugh in there about him emerging from the Colin Bell End at the Emirates. |
 | Forum Reply | Have Sports Republic a plan if we lose tonight and Sunday ? at 08:28 21 Jan 2026
My 2 cents on this is, if we lose both games , SR will choose one of the following options..Calling any of them a "plan" is a stretch. 1. Do absolutely f**k all. 2. Consider appointing an in-house dream team involving Lallana, Romeu and the Ghanaian Dream bloke. Then, realising that is left field even for them, will do f**k all. 3. Think about trying to persuade an experienced out of work manager to board the sinking ship. Realise there isn't one and proceed directly to doing f**k all. Anyone ITK on whether the Armstrong leaving story is real or fake news. |

I hope anyone thinking there are currently 3 teams worse than us, are not using the the table as of today to make their point. If you take SW out and insert the Skates you have 2 teams (Oxford and Norwich) who have recently given us the bum's rush and a 3rd who may well do the same to us on Sunday. Like you I would love to think we are better than them if only "on paper"...BUT Forget paper, the game is played on grass...and on grass we utter Gladys Knight. |

The ideas that the players performed to get Eckert the job and that Stephens wandered in to tell the Board what the players want, have the slight whiff of "never let the truth get in the way of a good story". From where I sit, SR don't listen to anyone, let alone Jack the Lad. All that matters not. The club is in a dark place right now and the immediate outlook isn't very bright. I can't see Solak going anywhere soon..why would he ?. He's not losing money on an operating basis. OK, it's a fair assumption the club is worth less than he paid for it but who cares ?.. it's an unrealised loss until he sells. His accountants will take care of that shit. Depressed ?? ....Yep. |

A1079's post came from the heart and caught today's mood perfectly. I agree it should be published. Being a Saints fan ,though, is like being in Hotel California....you might check out now and again but you can never leave. |

That poster's opinion on JWP's "engine" would be fun to read. My guess is he likens it to a 1961 Triumph Herald with 235k on the clock. |

The Saganowski one is comedy gold. As for being dodgy, forget it. I know plenty of Poles and they would all think that was hilarious. They also have plenty of jokes up their sleeve concerning English stereotypes. Here's one we did in early 1968 that disappeared in a tsunami of tumbleweed after one rendition...(silver lining) Hi ho Jimmy Melia He's our midfield nonce, now baby Look out boys he'll try to feel ya Worst signing ever made by us That's fu**ing obvious Widely considered less funny than Melia himself...a low bar. |
 | Forum Reply | Who Is Your Favourite Ever Southampton Keeper at 20:35 16 Jan 2026
For me, the word " favourite " in this question just means "which one was likely to be the most memorable to watch when entering the ground". So my vote goes to Ron Reynolds from the early 60's. Reliable enough on the basics...was our PFA rep and generally batshit crazy. Played a part in a game I saw as a boy vs Leeds in the league cup. Today it would have been talked about as the game of the century for Saints. Reynolds went off injured very early after planting his head on the Leeds CF's boot. Cliff Huxford went in goal (no subs) and let in 4 goals. Step forward Derek Reeves who scored all 5 in a 5-4 win. Reynolds was the first keeper to wear contact lenses and could regularly be found on all fours on the edge of his 6 yard box looking for one of them. Under lights they rendered him effectively blind with the inevitable hilarious outcomes. Yep.. fits the " favourite " tag for me. |

Big up to George Long ...never conceded in a Saints jersey. Should get a 97th minute cameo tomorrow if only to bolster the meagre list of " played for Saints and Hull" |

Talking to an old Milton Rd pal last night who swears the following had some limited air time back when. Down at the Dell when we score a goal Chivers kicks the ball up the referee's hole They call for the Doctor but he's stuck in Paris And the ref is left with the ball up his 'arris I told him he must have done some bad acid back then cos it's a new one on me.... |
