I agree sort of felt that Warburton could have stepped up to Director of Football with Eustace as Head Coach, but no Warburton had to go for various reasons above his head and for what you describe about the youth development stuff and no doubt caught up with the politics of Hoos, Ferdinand and Ramsey and an ownership that seem blinded to appointing decent football people, although I so recognise that the owners are keeping us afloat with a cash input to meet our revenue shortfall. |
 | Forum Thread | This Season Almost A Replica of The McLaren Season at 11:37 9 Mar 2026
Sort of feel that this season has fallen into a trough of where we were with Steve McLaren in 2018/19 season, poor start good mid point and drastic fall away in late winter/early spring. I hope like McLaren's contract there is an option to review and part ways with Stephan at the end of the season. To be honest I never really felt we should have let Warburton & Eustace go in 2022, they could have built something, but no the politics always gets in the way. Another thing there must be more to these injuries especially Chair, Poku and the new Coventry signing that they are just always injured? |

Yes Boro are a good step above us and they play with a lot of confidence and basically played around us, creating space on our tight pitch. We just don't have for want of the words the technically gifted midfield players that teams like Boro have that can deliver through the centre of the park. What is most frustrating is we are now in the worst of both worlds, we are getting done over by bigger more physical teams i.e. Blackburn and Sheff Utd and now the more pacy gifted teams i.e. Boro and Ipswich. Warnock had it right in the Sky studio , QPR lack fight and physicality and are easy to turn over. |

Watching Stephan's interview on Sky he does not seem bothered to me, just kept talking how technically brilliant Boro were, we know they are better than us, can't see him staying after the end of the season. Another one passing through our club and to be honest don't really care much for him as the manager anyway. |

All points to the other thread, "Has The Game Gone", lots of smoke and mirrors with football these days including injuries, transfers, back room staff and communication. Basically an over bloated industry but still enjoyable, even the money offered to players at non league level is I understand quite an eye opener. |

Well drilled, looking good Boro this season, it might be a very tough watch at Loftus Road on Sunday. I actually think we might be able to get a result in this game, if we can cut out those head scratching mistakes which usually put us on the back foot. Heart saying a 1-1 draw but head saying a Boro win, just hope it is not a tonking if Boro do win. |

All so true, it's just rinse and repeat season after season, you could even liken it to the DABDA grief principle as we head to 16th place. |

Not good enough for the rigours of Championship football, much like Heverton Santos, Reggie Cannon and Hermalinan from a few years back. There is a pattern here and we keep signing them. |

I can't see Stephan being with us next season, probably go back to French football and leave by mutual consent. Don't think he will be sacked may even have a break clause in his contract on a one year rolling basis. |

For me the game was done at 2-0 down, thought Esquidina (Heverton Santos mk 2) was awful again, to blame for the first done over by Chong the Championship journeyman, Varane terrible, compounded by giving the ball away for the 2nd goal. I was just suprised that we were not tonked in the 2nd half. Looked much better with Smyth and Mbengue on the pitch, both should have started. Don't know why our goal was disallowed. Can't see us doing anything against Middlesbrough they are at another level. |

Always feel that Rangers need to score first at home, if we get a goal ahead in this one then don't think we will lose. Trouble is we don't always get that 2nd goal to give more breathing space. Think this one will be a 1-1 draw as our tendency to go passive from a period of domination at home tends to be our problem. Hope to see Ronnie Edwards in the Madsen role as to me he looks like he could be very good in that position. |
 | Forum Reply | Will Chair be back to his injury free best? at 05:48 28 Feb 2026
You do wonder whether the off field problem the conviction etc. must have had a big effect on him and this may have affected both his physical and mental well being, it's no coincidence that since all the stuff about his offence came out a couple of years back that his injury problems started. Remains to be seen whether his good form returns was always hoping that Stephan was going to use Chair in a more central midfield role this season, but unfortunately this has not been able to happen. |

They are all over trained, protected and made of glass these young modern footballers, further accentuated by all the back room staff at the football clubs. Analysts, trainers, coaches for this coaches for that a right old gravy train. Go back to the Venables days for example you had about 15 or 16 players in a squad, manager and a coach plus a couple of physios. Now it's a total bloated payroll protecting these so called assets that can't seem to manage a couple of games a week. |
 | Forum Reply | Should we recall Celar, Field, or Lloyd? at 17:17 27 Feb 2026
Can we just forget about Celar ever being in a QPR shirt again, as he is bloody useless and a bit of a costly mistake . Alfie Lloyd is a trier, I like him, hopefully there is still a future for him at QPR. Sam Field is being primed for a sale in my opinion and if he performs at Norwich there is a good chance we could get a decent fee for him at the end of the season. |
 | Forum Reply | Five-star Saints whitewash wretched Rangers – Report at 16:53 26 Feb 2026
I always felt that the Hull game was winnable, but just didn't fancy us at Southampton for a lot of reasons laid out by Clive. That said I didn't put us down for a 5-0 thrashing, but once that 2nd went in, thought we are in trouble here. But Southampton are a team that can draw on an expensive range of talent in this division by the virtue of their status and plans for promotion. Basically beaten by a much better team, but agree the manner of the defeat, standards etc. has the usual question marks about what goes on at QPR. The next two home games are tough as well against a team that should be higher up in the table and another who are pushing for automatic promotion. Can the Rangers step up, not sure? |
 | Forum Reply | Stephan at 13:47 25 Feb 2026
Think sometimes we have to admit that teams are better than us, which Southampton are with the resources they have at their disposal. It can be argued that we should not be being walloped 5 nil, but this is the case when you come up against an in form team who can turn it on at this level, that was proved at Leicester the other week when they got that 4-3 win. QPR have to work hard for their wins because we don't have the strength of personnel that the top teams in this division have, expect if we had two or three of our better players available then the result would have been closer. |
 | Forum Reply | Madsen hamstring at 13:36 25 Feb 2026
There must be something wrong with the fitness regime, but could it be some of this in game without the possession strategy is very tiring and if you are forever chasing the game, there is a chance that muscle strains are more likely. Are players in the modern game overtrained? Looking at Southampton they were on the front foot most of the game, passing through and neatly to each other, we play too deep spend a lot of time without the ball and unable to hit our target men, who spend most of their time trying to criss cross the opposition defence feeding off scraps. Although Madsen's injury was in an attacking phase, it's not gone unnoticed for quite a few games he has been up and down the pitch clearing up etc and looks like his body has just reacted to this, a bit like Burrell and all his chasing around game after game. |
