I had a training day recently, it was taken by an ex police officer who had been with the armed police and counter terrorism. He actually called it "two tier policing" openly and said he couldn't do the job now. I understand we don't have the room to lock them all up but we clearly do need more prison space. Some people are not getting custodials when they certainly should, some are getting suspended sentences when they have a long list of previous. Some we let out early are almost immediately reoffending. |

And somewhere out on the coast a small boat with a roll of plastic sheeting and a few anchors is being prepared... Seriously, this bloke could be "silenced" even though it's too late to make a difference. |

Maybe so but what can any supporter do about it? We are always allowed to question but we are powerless as fans of several other clubs can testify. One of the core problems, it seems to me, is that the "fit and proper person" test is not fit for purpose. Then, the EPL top 6 have too much power AND too much money as a share of the pie. Lets face it, if a Man City fan had known for certain about the infractions and had blown the whistle, who would have listened? Over things like this the big money people get away with murder unless they push it too far. Unfortunately the oil money guys from Arab countries are used to getting their own way, even with governments, and they have pushed this way too far and now most of the English football league is out for blood, even MP's are questioning this! |

yes the oil companies are making bigger profits again. Burnham could do something. The petrol stations aren't coining it. |

|Why do we need to know? What can we do about it? Do people want clarity or are we just being nosey? it's becoming more and more common not to fully disclose these things. I guess it goes one of two ways, either our owners are sticking to the rules and we'll be fine OR we are heading down a road to the Etihad situation. In either case us fans have no control so again I'll say, sit back and enjoy. |

If the infrastructure is fine then why do we pay billions to turn off wind farms because the grid cannot cope with getting that power where it is needed. When I said rot maybe stagnate would be a better choice? The water infrastructure, now that has rotted! |
 | Forum Reply | Oversight of the welfare bill at 19:27 2 Oct 2026
We can't just focus on one thing but I have no doubt there is rampant welafre abuse just as there is negligence in the oversight of government spending that allows massive overspending and waste. There's also the rampant tax avoidance and evasion that, when added up costs the country many billions. The welfare bill needs pegging back, I don't think many can deny it, I think most of us know somebody who is falsely cclaiming money but then, maybe we also know somebody who is genuine but doesn't get the help they need? |

A few people have concerns, understandable I guess but looking at the facts, crowds are rising, revenue is rising and everybody seems to be pulling in the same direction. On top of that us fans are apparently happier than we have been for years and our current owners seem much smarter, much more focussed on the clubs future success than we have seen in a long time. My opinion, they want real success and are working hard for it so maybe we should just trust them and enjoy the ride? |

The private ownership definitely is bonkers as well. Energy is a basic need for the population, it shouldn't be run to provide profit for shareholders, it should be run to benefit the country. We have been sold down the river. The infrastructure has been allowed to rot for our essential services but the prices keep rising. |
 | Forum Reply | Burnham on Fuel Prices at 20:17 1 Oct 2026
Yes Trump is to blame BUT, there are things Burnham could do to reduce the price. |
 | Forum Reply | Wasted Wind Energy - Utter Madness at 17:52 1 Oct 2026
When have prices come down? Ever since privatisation the only thing that's reduced is the standard of service, prices have risen, profits have risen with wages for top earners and share dividends rising a lot but the servie we get is poorer. People say socialism doesn't work, never has but capitalism....well capitalism has been a vehicle for moving wealth from the poorer to the richer, it doesn't work for the majority. |

I bought it when it first came out, was at the book signing in the Railway. I love Curt, you won't meet a nicer person, humble, will talk to anybody and never ignores you. he is everything a good pro footballer should be in my opinion. Too many of them get all Billy big balls. |

I'm with you 100%, It doesn't matter which party, which government, they have failed this country for the last 50 years and often (in my opinion) deliberately with their self serving, greedy ways. |

This? Cloward and Piven were both professors at the Columbia University School of Social Work. The strategy was outlined in a May 1966 article in the liberal magazine The Nation titled "The Weight of the Poor: A Strategy to End Poverty" It really doesn't seem to me that is what is happening. It seems more like they are enabling the very rich to take ever more of the wealth and keeping the poor reliant on handouts. E|verything has been downgraded in the last 50 years, schools, NHS, policing, well downgraded for the ordinary worker, if you are very rich you can have fantastic levels of education, policing and health care. |

Those students do pay for universities and so create jobs but when they stayand dependants join them, what is the cost of that? How much in extra services via the schools, NHS/social care and policing? Are there relaible figures? I'd aslo disagree that 25k k per year is negligible becaue the accumuation over 10 years is a town/city the size of Swansea. Asylum based immigration also has criminal implications, taken from the internet... • Prison and Conviction Statistics: Non-UK citizens made up 13.1% of cautions and convictions and 12.1% of the prison population, according to data analyzed by the Migration Observatory. • Types of Offences: Non-UK citizens are statistically more often represented in specific offence groups like fraud or drug-related crimes, but they are generally underrepresented in violent personal crimes compared to UK citizens. The problem is our governments really don't know how many are in this country. There could (and probably are a few million more people than they admit to. |

I think sensible people would say the whole situation is an abhorrent mess and that far too many people are getting killed/murdered by both sides. The question always has been what can we do to stop it? A question nibody has ever been able to answer. Religion has a lot to answer for. |

Where we're parking in Hammersmith, it's easier to get back on the motorway. Last time I drove we booked someone's drive closer to the ground and getting out afterwards was whacky races, I broke a few rules or we'd have been there all night! |
