While not wanting to start another back and forth with Hud - and we've discussed the issue of climate change very amicably offline - I must restate that it is a proven scientific fact that CO2 and other gases emitted by humans burning fossil fuels causes the climate to warm. This was discovered at the end of the 19th century and has been repeatedly tested and confirmed.

I am probably wrong but I really don't remember humidity in this country before 1990. I had been to the far east before then and experienced it but not here. I remember being at work sometime in 1990, everyone felt hot, we opened the windows and it made little difference. Placed an order for fans.

I don't like the way CC and ULEZ are funded, I think they punish people who are the worst off but the rhetoric from Khan's opponents is based on misinformation, cynical politicking, and in a few cases something else.

Personally im against the expansion into outer London, and don't like how it is being implemented. Not in favour of brexit, but if we've done it not sure why we are allowing ourselves to be facing a 300 million pound fine. Not keen on khan or Boris, personally id abolish the mayor of london position. |

You've completed only half the cost-benefit analysis there.
If the congestion charge were scrapped it's certain that traffic inside the zone will increase. So if you're spending the day working in central London you could easily have an hour added to your journey times, which means an hour less available for chargeable work. I have no idea what your hourly rate is, but if it's less than £60 please PM with your trades capabilities. |
Scrap the CC and Keep the ULEZ, why have both? Isnt it basically for the same thing? Less traffic, pollution, safer on the roads in public places..?
London is just an island on its own that's sold everything of value and now cant look after itself, so charges the public to sustain itself.

You are 100% correct.
With one caveat (and a huge generalisation), encouraging non Londoners to get public transport into London is a difficult ask as long as public transport is more expensive than driving. [Post edited 12 Mar 17:46]

It needs to be cheaper, cleaner, more reliable. It needs to be able to cope with the amount of people who want to use it.
And....and....it needs to feel friendlier and safer for users. Which includes stopping people playing their music, films , whatever, for the whole carriage to hear. |  | | |
