Went to Nile Rodgers / Chic last year; thought it was quite a good set-up there.

Going to Ocean Colour Scene, Echobelly and Cast. Looking forward to it. Not been to one before, where do they have the stage?

That's right.

There are food outlets outside by the entrance to the Guildhall, and the bars inside the Guildhall are open.

I'd pay £166 a ticket if they played the whole of their New Gold Dream album!

That would surely be too much, and akin to promising a miracle.

I’d personally also wanna see Mel Gaynor on the sticks for that money (even though the current lass on drums ain’t bad to be fair).

Is it a sell out for Simple Minds day?

Yes, but have to admit I did not buy a ticket!! I found a spot outside where I could even see some of the stage and the sound was just as good ( I know what a cheapskate)
It was just the greatest hits show.

I got given a ticket last minute. Not a particular fan and was surprised how good they were. I thought the Buzzcocks were a bit guff

I went on Saturday, it was very well organised, easy to get a drink inside the guildhall with essentially the two usual bars open and also a big long bar at one end of the hall.

The stage set up etc worked a lot better than I thought it would.

Buzzcocks played a couple of their best songs at the start and then basically played new stuff and tracks that the guitarist Steve Diggle had written, given that most of the crowd would have known very little that was not written in their first period 1977-80 ish, they only played about 4 -5 songs from that era.

The Stranglers in contrast stuck mainly to their 1977-84 period with only a couple of songs from after Hugh Cornwell left in 1990.

They did play their greatest hists, but they also had a broad selection of their most popular album tracks .

I think they played for about 90m mins and they still had quite a few fan favourite songs that they had to leave out.

Strangely only two bands on, so a lot of standing around before the Stranglers

Drink was reasonably priced for a big gig like this, a pint of Porretti was £6.95, not much more than it would cost in the pubs surrounding Guildhall Square

Yeah it seemed well organised and easy to get a drink.

I see UB40 got slammed last night. I thought it was odd it was billed as UB40 featuring Ali Campbell and Bitti Mcclean. Campbell by all accounts couldnt be arsed
