Deeply unfashionable things that are…not bad, actually 12:57 - Jun 14 with 5434 views | MrSheen | Everyone can think of things that we are shocked are still going…Angus Steak Houses, caravanning, freemasonry for me. Never tried any of them, but I just KNOW somehow. It’s like when you walk past an interesting restaurant with no customers, the sadness of it adds to the risk of trying it. Fifteen years ago, my pre-teen kids were crazy about Superdry clothes, as were their friends. Then suddenly they weren’t and moved on to Hollister or whatever, and rolled their eyes when a misguided auntie gave them something Superdry for their birthday. In the years since, I’ve come across Superdry stores on rare shopping trips - big and always empty. I’d noticed through work that the share price had fallen 95% from its peak, well past the point when companies are usually put out of their misery. I’m off to Spain in a couple of weeks and Mrs Sheen forced me out to buy some new clothes. I dragged myself to Battersea Power Station for the mall experience and saw a big Superdry. My first reaction was shock that a fancy new development had given them space, they must be struggling to find tenants. Curiosity got the better of me and I went in: no customers, and so little confidence of making sales the counter was covered in stock. So little fear of theft they had hardly any staff on the floor. And the clothes? I’m a Wagner loving, sherry-drinking QPR fan in my 60s, don’t rely on me for fashion advice. I hated the booming music and the silly practice of rolling up all the sleeves and trouser legs. But the cut and the fabrics seemed good for the price and I found enough colours and subdued styles to suit me, so I hunted down a shocked and grateful staff member and found a corner on the counter to buysome. Any other examples of a wouldn’t-be-seen-dead experience working out well?

I bought a Hackett shirt at TK Maxx about twenty years ago when you could still find decent overstock stuff there -not one of their terrible Polo shirts! It must have been washed hundreds of times since but it still looks great, amazing quality. I occasionally go into Hackett to see if they have anything similar but they want a fortune for horrible pastels, like an 80s antique dealer.

Pfft, in Sweden everyone 18+ wears Birkenstocks religiously. Often with socks.

Lots of youngsters wearing them in Berlin last week with long socks, shorts, sporting a mullet and there seems to be a craze over there for huge moustaches at the moment as well.

Please wear them with socks! Too many men out flaunting broken hairy toes with ingrown nails

Admittedly, I've yet to find a form of alcohol I don't like despite over four decades of extensive research (sh*t beer doesn't count, due to existence of great beer) but I reckon sherry is very under-rated. I wouldn't want more than a couple of glasses, but in the interests of my liver that's a good thing.

Nothing says 'fuddy-duddy' as much as a grandfather clock, but for half the price of an everyday Rolex Sub, you can have something built by hand during the reign of George III, more polished mahogany than the Long Room at Lords, chimes written by Gershwin, a pendulum swing smoother than a Federer backhand and a tick-tock that marks your time on this earth like Phileas Fogg plotting a course around the world with calipers on a Mercator map. Quality is fine but I find the labelling is too ott, although I haven't checked their range recently. I do own one one item of clothing from Superdry (a shirt) and it's one of my favourites. I’m young/old enough to have been going out when Superdry was the red hot thing to have. I always thought it was a bit shite though for the money - two washes and you were wearing a Suprdy tshirt [Post edited 15 Jun 22:00]

Your frame is very similar to mine, then, mine is made of 531 ST. The frame was built by Nigel Dean and is a Great Escapist, marketed by The Bicycle Chain group of cycle shops. Having been made in 1988, it recently got to the point where the original (banana yellow) paintwork was flaking off so I had the frame refurbished - in midnight blue - by Argos Cycles, a frame repair specialist, based in Bristol. They did an utterly amazing job .

Deeply unfashionable things that are…not bad, actually on 23:18 - Jun 15 with 614 views | NewBee | I was coming through the airport sometime last year, I needed a watch because the strap on my old cheapo job was bust and couldn't be repaired, even by Timpson's finest. Spotted the watch concession store, went in and approx 4 mins later came our with a brand new, £50 Sekonda - half price in a sale at £25! And you know what? It tells the time, the same time as every other fekker with a three hundred? three grand? thirty grand? watch on his wrist, with none of the worry that some arse will try to snatch it. And if anyone is worried about me financing Putin's assault on Ukraine with my purchase, the brand was bought years ago, by a British company, who get their watches made in Hong Kong - the original home of good quality, low-cost quartz watches. Oh and btw, the only reason I spent 4 minutes in the concession was because the woman spotted my football badge and spent a couple of minutes chatting about that, while taking my twenty five quid - time flies, eh?
