| Manhunt for Epping Forest sex offender on 09:19 - Oct 29 by Gwyn737 | I think it’s important we take the actual issues. In this case, it does seem like a competency issue. Nowt to do with ‘woke’. |
The actual issues are we are being overwhelmed by people who shouldn't be any where nears a civilised country , deal with that and I think you'll find other "issues" will disappear.

I agree with you. My point is woke has nothing to do with it

Looks like the removal team dealing with him made the decision to pay him £500 after he threatened to disrupt the process, morally wrong, but from a financial perspective it makes total sense because solicitors representing him in any legal proceedings would cost a lot more than that as would having to cancel the flight etc etc. Let’s hope he never tries to get back in, if he does he should be jailed for a long long time.

He should be paying his own solicitors fees, not us. He also shouldn’t have the power to “disrupt the process” in the first place. He’s committed a serious offence and the law of the land demands his deportation so just handcuff the scumbag and bundle him on the plane if necessary. Why do we insist on treating hardened criminals with kid gloves?

There was a 5 man security team escorting him surely they could handle one man and he shouldn't have any rights to legal services to oppose his deportation He's now arrived in Ethiopia a free man with £500 in his back pocket

My mate works for the "removal team" there has to be a full team on board, all these returning Illegal imagrants are given money, the team are authorised and trained to use full force on putting these people on the planes, they even use straight jackets if they need to. He wasn't given an easy ride as the media would have you believe

Amazing how few hours walking the Streets unchallenged with freedom and the whiff of easy money incoming , a change of mind by this sex offender happens . Deposit raised already for his next attempted small boat crossing . | | | | Login to get fewer ads

It’s far more cost effective to give him the £500 and be done. He was flown out on a commercial flight. Had he been disruptive, kicked off or threatened to kick off the captain of the aircraft would have been well within his rights to refuse to allow him on board or have him removed from the aircraft. That would have meant he’d still be here. It’s not possible to restrain someone for hours and hours without serious risk of something going wrong, imagine if they’d have had to physically restrain him and he had a heart attack or suffered positional asphyxia, the security guards are potentially looking a a criminal investigation possibly for murder or manslaughter. If he’d have started to kick off mid air, then even with 5 security staff there’s a possibility the captain of the plane would have diverted to unload him. That would incur additional costs including landing costs, refuelling, compensation to other passengers if the flights is late reaching its destination, hotel costs for the crew and passengers if the crew’s hours are up etc etc, medical costs, ot for the security etc etc etc. All that could easily run to £100k and would be charged back to us via the airline. As much as it goes against the grain, £500 v potentially £100k is good business.

Funny you should say that as Times Radio interviewed a HR lawyer today who said that this deportee would have a good chance of staying if he could only get back to the UK. The lawyer said that Ethiopia was hardly a safe country for this man, and the fact that he had been deported once would not necessarily take away the force of HR considerations. When it was suggested that the conviction for a sexual offence would make asylum impossible, the lawyer said that it was only a 12 months sentence and that shorter sentences were on a different category from sentences of 4 years plus. He seemed willing to take on such cases. We will always see inventive arguments put forward, given the lax framework of ECHR and HRA law.

"It’s far more cost effective to give him the £500 and be done" in this case you could be right but now the precedent has been set so how many more will be using this to squeeze yet more money from the taxpayer .

A plane load of Romanian criminals were given up to £2000 under the UK's facilitated return scheme to leave I wonder how many were back within days

Indeed so. The awful thing is that the £500 for the Ethiopian was far from a one off, and he could probably have got a higher payment if he had made a proper application. A HR lawyer on the radio today said he met the criteria. See the deals on offer at the link. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/68517356dc640d9b20f3e938/The+Faci In summary: Resettlement grant • £1,500 where the application is made whilst the FNO is serving their custodial sentence • £1,500 for qualifying family members • £750 for FNOs who apply after completing their custodial sentence • £750 for FNOs who have received a conviction overseas • £750 for FNOs with UK non-custodial convictions A discretionary additional £500 in financial support may be payable upon departure to a small number of vulnerable FNOs in certain circumstances.

Truly unbelievable, he's been out for six days and no sign of catching up with him. Government figures show 262 prisoners in England and Wales were mistakenly released up to March 2025 Who on earth are employed to these positions!

This country seems to be full of people who can't do their job properly. This one escaped last week, so presumably it's been covered up until now? [Post edited 5 Nov 13:29]

What's been done to the justice system over the last 20 years is a disgrace. It cold well be incompetence or it could be systematic of a system on its knees.

Again it’s ideological. These people in charge don’t believe criminals should be punished for what they’ve done. It’s no wonder the system has become so lax when we treat criminals better than we treat our veterans and old people.
