| Vigoroux 10:20 - Dec 7 with 1463 views | union_jack | Haven’t seen anything mentioning him following yesterday’s game. He's had some critics of late, myself included to a point due to his reticence to leave his line or 6 yd area. Today however, we saw him come to the edge of the area to pick up through balls taking the pressure of the CBs. I’m very surprised it’s taken Margetson that long to coach him into this. It’s not as easy as a keeper to assess the speed of a through ball. I know from experience! Bit clearly he’s been working on it and yesterday seemed to have adapted his game to deal with these situations. | |

As a stops hotter alone he’s one of if not the best in this league. But there is more to keeping including managing your 6 and 18 yard area. He seems to be improving on the latter areas or at least showed signs of it yesterday.

If you read the garbage I post , you will see me commenting that he has regressed That is because of what he has in front of him Incertsinty has rampaged through our squad under Sheehan and others and it’s affected him I’d like to see him take more control too but fact is we’d be sunk without him

He is a very good reaction saver and has made some high class saves for us But He does tend to stay on his line and doesn’t command his area like some but as I said he has saved us on many occasions with smart stops I’d like to see him come for aerial balls more as he is a big unit and should be better in the air Let’s hope Matos will stop the nonsensical passing around at the back as Vig doesn’t look comfortable with it and all it really does is give opponents time to mark players up ,just let him shift the ball forward quicker and get us moving

He made a good save yesterday towards the end. Was going the wrong way but stuck out a boot to stop the shot.

Indeed. "Shot stopping" is the easiest part of goalkeeping. Vigs is very good at that. He hasn't been helped by our defence being a bit wobbly, but likewise our defence isn't helped by a keeper who they don't know if he's going to come or not. He absolutely could be quicker off his line in certain situations.

It does seem as if we are relying on Burgess to ensure dominant in the box but invariably it can lead to him and Cabango going for the same ball, when Vigouroux has come for the ball it has relieved the pressure on us in an instant rather than having the chaos of the poorly cleared ball ping ponging around our area. The same thing happened at times with Darling and Cabango To me a timely call by a player going for a ball can enable players around them to get themselves into good positions to cover or look to recieve the ball enabling us to get forward quicker in control of the ball or stop opposition's attacks. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Ironically in the games he's played this season Andy Fisher has looked the better "all round" keeper.

Cabango does seem all at sea at the moment and totally lacking confidence, which doesn't help. There were numerous times yesterday when he had time and just booted the ball away into touch. If he wasn't captain would he be rested?

Captain or not, he should be. We’ve got Casey ready to fit in. For the moment anyway.

Think we will see a lot more of Casey happy to have the dominance of Cabango and Burgess in the air, it is on the ground their lack of mobility seems to be a problem, Key was used last year in behind the two centre backs instead of Naughton but for all his pace he is not confident under the high ball or was he too confident and gets caught on the ball, Casey does seem to read the situation well except the odd youthful mistake.

Agree with this,Fisher has played well in the games he played this season including Man City , he’s alert to balls played over the top and does go for high balls
| Vigoroux on 14:31 - Dec 7 with 916 views | KeithHaynes | Maybe Sheehan didn’t want him doing what he did yesterday ? Margetson isn’t as daft as to not notice it before. He got a few mentions in the match report 😉

Yes, I agree with your last comment about Casey regarding the "odd youthful mistake". These, as infrequent they are, have led to an opposition goal. If Casey could significantly reduce these "youthful mistakes", then he would be not only a starter for Swans but probably for WHAM! He is a talented youngster waiting for his chance to become a star. I sure hope Swans can keep his for the 2nd half of the season.

This gas to fe the reason. It's still a mystery to me how we regressed so much from last season with a supposedly better squad. Maybe we need to cut them ALL some slack and see how Vitos does?

It is not a lack of confidence when a keeper does not like coming for crosses it's fear, he is a decent shot stopper but sadly lacks in the bravery department elsewhere.
