Recently my O2 phone contract came to an end.
Rather than have a new handset I decided to go for 12 months of sim only.
But O2 wanted about £23!
A quick check on Uswitch and I got a better sim only deal for £7... still with O2!
Nothing changed in my O2 account, and I got a 12 month free subscription to Perplexity Pro (saving $20 per month)!
Unbelievable deal.

One nil you!

Nice to see length of contract disclosed, too.

I used to be with O2 and through their Priority App, I used to get a free coffee once a week from Cafe Nero and a free bacon roll once a week from Gregggs - my SIM only deal was £7 per month :)

Of course it was too good to last and after merging with Virgin media the coffee got downgraded to one from Greggs and then further reduced to once a month.

Echo that on the phone. Just £4pcm for Lebara which gives me all the calls and data I need. Normally on wifi anyway. Plenty still paying £20-30.

Also...I never understood why I'd add cold water to the hot water when having a shower or a bath. Why heat it up so much to cool it down again? When do you need it hotter than you'd shower in? Just lowered the temperature on my boiler. Must save a bit.

You've got to make sure you catch the companies, they are really cheeky when your contract comes to an end. My O2 contract ended in December at which point I'd paid off the handset, and then they continued to charge me full whack for 5 months after. Had to call up and really kick off, comparing the cost of a sim-only deal on the same conditions to what they'd been charging me and showing the breakdown of what was going towards my handset and what was going towards the monthly bill. Eventually after escalating a few times, they agreed to refund me the difference over the 5 months.

When renewing or getting a new phone with 02 always cheaper and shorter contracts available through 3rd parties and always do it on a bank holiday to get the best price

I have Now TV for Sky Sports. Every time the deal is about to bump up I go to cancel and then they offer a better deal. £17.99 for all the sports channels for the next 5 months.

Deals are better on the website too rather than through the phone app.

If you have a loaf of freshly baked bread and it’s approaching 3 days old then keep it in a bucket of water to ensure it doesn’t got dry, crusty and hard.

No thanks needed

Virgin Media were taking the piss with their renewal price so I cancelled with them at the end of my contract and the wife signed up as a new customer for a much better price. Totally worked.

The wife and I cancelled sky TV and our broadband with them. Got a firestick and iptv. Now the iptv costs me in a year slightly less a year than a month did with sky and I have it as multi room. Every single channek you can think off. Pretty much every box set going and access to Netflix and other streaming services. So canceled them too. Saving at least £1700 a year

Does your boiler provide instant hot water, or do you have a cylinder to store the hot water? If it’s a cylinder you need the temperature to at least 60 degrees to kill any legionella bacteria that might be present in the standing water.

AA auto renewal came up at £323, quick online discussion with chat, (thinking of leaving, valued customer etc.) resulted in £113. With good discounts at IMO Car Wash, Greene King amongst others, that's a good deal.

If you can afford it this is apparently a way to reduce your energy spend at certain times if you’re not on a fixed tariff

When the energy price cap is predicted to rise do a meter reading but over state your usage at that time.
You are in effect pre buying energy units at a lower rate.

Combi boiler, not quite instant though.

My mate massively overstated his meter readings knowing price rises were coming. Didnt think of that one myself sadly.

I mean, I know you're saving money, but it's through piracy which is illegal

Also illegal, so if you go in too large with that you might come unstuck.
