Cardiff and Ospreys to have the same owner?!?

No Ospreys to disappear as it stands. If this is the case the WRU should allow another consortium to buy the Ospreys, the other group who were interested in Cardiff?

They won’t do that because they want to get shot of 1 region and save the money they’d be paying out to the Ospreys. Allowing someone else to buy the Ospreys would put them back at square 1, unless the Ospreys were to join the Premiership and get their funding elsewhere.

If the Ospreys fancied a crack at the Premiership I’m sure the Swans would allow them to continue the ground share arrangements, but I think the Ospreys owners are being offered a deal they can’t refuse to acquire Cardiff, thereby removing the threat of Y11 suing the WRU.

It’s done and dusted, the WRU have been called to Westminster, but what is that going to achieve? It’s a PR exercise. The WRU will answer a few questions, say they’ve got no money and that’s about it. Are Westminster going to give them more money - don’t think so. It’ll be the same with the Senedd, can we expect them to commit money to the rugby in a direct funding package to the WRU or Ospreys - not likely.

The Welsh government have pledged 18 million to Wrexham to help fund development of the racecourse, how much did they give the Swans, I know the council built it, but did they have any Welsh Government funding.

Swansea council should not be spending a penny of taxpayers money on a dispute between two private organisations.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

They will have a very strong case as the WRU have rigged the process and not shown due diligence in my opinion. How you can negotiate with the owners of one region to buy your region off you when you are supposed to be for the benifit of all regions. There is a conflict of duty at the very minimum. Swansea Council just do it, its more pressure on top of the vote for an extraordinary general meeting that is being processed. The WRU have opened a bag of worms and do not have the skill set to sort it out.

It will be backed by the University who we shareholders in the project as were Swansea Bay Partnership who business wise will knock spots off the WRU.

Two local MP's are on the case to support the Ospreys. There is deafening silence from Gower MP Tonia Antoniazzi who, coincidentally, is on the Scarlets board. Tonia darling, you represent Gower constituents not frigging Llanelli.

Tomorrow the WRU are answering questions by request in Westminster, this is a long way from over. Don't be surprised to see common sense prevail with Newport being the one to go with compensation paid to their owners.

WRU the worst WRU I can recall and we've had some bad ones! Have taken the cowards way out by accepting Y11 s bid. The precious Cardiff supporters are also moaning, worried that they will lose the Cardiff name.
It would be a disaster to Welsh Rugby to have know pro team in the Swansea area. It's so short sighted . Future generations of players and supporters will be lost. Also no regional team for the likes of Neath, Aberavon Bridgend.
This announcement comes just before Tandy named the squad. Great timing.
Ospreys players gave now made a statement of unhappiness with the WRU.
I've said as have many the WRU in any form have had the knives out for the Ospreys for a while. Y11 who ever they maybe also seem complicit.
If this goes ahead. Thats me done with Welsh Rugby in any form. Including international Rugby

If this is necessary - and I remain to be convinced that it is - then wouldn't it make more sense to have two elite regions - South Wales West and South Wales East with the games rotating around the existing stadia ?

Nobody and no set of fans wants this only a handful of clowns at the WRU, it's a microcosm for the Senedd and Westminster - a handful of clueless pricks inflicting misery on the rest of us...

Even the Cardiff rugby fans don't want it and the legacy of being the crisis club that killed the Ospreys...

As someone has said - what a mess

If they drop Newport they will have to pay in the region of £5M compensation for the contract they signed last year and they won't drop Cardiff. There is the crux of the issue.

5m is small change for an organisation such as the WRU even anyone who has the smallest amount of interest in Regional rugby will understand the argument against having effectively 2 teams both of whom have proven to be the weakest compared to the one we all know they would like to see gone.

It’s looking more apparent to me that the WRU have taken this matter personally. The Ospreys must have pissed them off somewhere along the line. Is Trump on the board?

You'll find Glamorgan have pulled out of Swansea citing in part the investment in Sofia Gardens, they've pulled the cricket and now it looks like the rugby.

The Welsh Rugby Players Association have now requested clarity from the WRU on what will happen next season and have instigated a deadline of February 6th, the day before the England game. They wouldn't would they.

WRU has confirmed Ospreys owners, Y11 Sport and Media, have been chosen as the preferred option to buy Cardiff.

The WRU and Ospreys say a successful deal would see Y11 own both teams but they will continue as separate entities. But no guarantees after 26/27 season.

How the hell can you own two teams in the same league. It just gets worse.
