Hopefully I can start a bit of a run be it a win streak for us and a runny blue nose for them

No Illy I reckon but I have to go with a 1-0 win

Burrell the one and only

captains fantastic
Poll: Jimmy Dunne Will he stay or will he go

Cant sleep, so watching back the goals and noticed how well Varane did to retrieve the ball after Poku had been tackled in the area. Very quick to react and recycle the ball to Morgan.

Please, and I beg you. Dont be offended, but please, I mean, if you were there? But I don't understand the premise of original question

Its not a complaint mate, its just a query for Saturday if Ilias is still out. Instead of replacing Illy with a like-for-like player, just try out Madsen in the more centrally forward mid position to try and slot balls into Kone and Burrell, rather than have Kone dropping back. Maybe keep Saito and Smyth on the wings though. And if needed in 2nd half, replace field or varane drop madsen back and bring dembele or our man Morgan on.

I'd like to see how the forwards would be with Madsen in Ilias' position, just to see if service helped the both of the them.

No criticism of tonight

If you play Madden in the 10, then you have to drop Kone. Can't have a 10, two strikers and two wingers unless you're playing with a back three. Stick with things as they are for now. My only concern would be what happens if Madsen gets injured.

Great seeing Kolli on the pitch at the end lifting players on his shoulders really celebrating the win.

Reflecting on last night - boy, when we get it right, we really get it right! The whole team, from back to front, just rolled up their sleeves and put in a shift. The players that were subbed weren't withdrawn for tactical reasons- they were fcking spent! How Kone and Burrell keep going like that just beggars belief!

When people ask 'why QPR?' I would refer, your Honour, to Exhibit A: a goal by a Mr K Morgan of W12.

No further questions.

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

Good lord, so many thoughts from last night. We were brilliant back to front in my eyes, with our only mistake being an inability to put the game away earlier.

Mbengue and Norrington-Davies were brilliant on both flanks. A lot has been said about Mbengue yesterday (and it was deserved), but RND has been a really solid signing. If we can keep him fit then I wouldn't be too sad about keeping him in the summer, though I imagine we'll have other options.

Dunne was dominant at CB for his best game this season by a country mile. They basically didn't have a sniff until that last gasp. Cook was very solid too, alongside, and showed that he's not quite done yet.

Madsen and Varane were the cream of the show, last night, though. Wow. Defensively dominant with creativity (Madsen) and endless running (Varane), these two are really starting to show why Stephan plays them together every week. I love Field and Hayden but last night it showed why they're not getting minutes. I hope it inspires Field and Hayden to push on for a spot.

In the forward ranks we weren't as clinical as usual, though all 4 put in a stint with endless running. We pressed so hard from the front that Brum simply couldn't handle it, and it should have led to more goals than we ended up with. Kone's miss was a bit of a sitter but it comes at an awkward angle. Those will go in in future though, he's just in a rough patch. Same for Dembelé, who shows flashes of really good play - a little more confidence and it'll start coming together. Smyth ran his legs off, and Saito beat his man for a beautiful cross.

All in all it was a wonderful performance. Even Nardi was solid with a good save from that flukey corner, though he really didn't have much to do all night.

My biggest takeaway, however, is the attitude at the end. After the goal went in, I thought "Here we go again, predictable QPR. We're going to snatch a draw from the jaws of victory AGAIN". Yet what was different this time was a desire to win. I think it years past we would've slumped to the 1-1 without a fight, as heads went down and the effort levels dissipated. But instead we went straight up the other end to try and score - when Morgan got the ball, I reckon we must have had 8/9 players in the box. That belief was completely new and I. Love. It. Inject it into my carotid and let me drift away.

That's down to Stephan. It's been ropey at times this season so far but I'm starting to really see what Stephan wants this team to be and I like it very very much. More please.

Edit: Didn't even mention Morgan! To come on, get rinsed and then score like that... He's going to be special, isn't he? Gaffer said as much in the post-match.

"our only mistake being an inability to put the game away earlier."

Fair comment, Euroranger.

I have tried to imagine what the score would have been if we had not taken wild, over-optimistic shots and had taken advantage of at least one free-kick from a decent position. That was a great win, but, there are some lessons to be learned when the squad watch the replay of that match. Could we, at least, work out how to take advantage of a free-kick just outside the box?

It was an impressive performance up until the 80th minute, although we should really have put the game to bed by then. We were well organised and worked hard all over the pitch. Then we started giving the ball away, sitting too deep and maybe the Brum subs worked. We really needed another body in midfield to give us some control.
But in the end who cares.
In a three game week I assume there'll have to be changes for Saturday so it will be hard against a top team to maintain momentum.
But lets just enjoy now!

Be hard to imagine any of tonight’s team won’t want to play on Saturday now.
They’ve got a full week to recover after Saturday, so don’t muck about too much with a team on a high and use the bench to good effect.

Sorry if this has been covered already but does anyone know how Morgan came to be just in his pants at one point during the goal celebrations?! I was jumping around the living room and I saw the shirt go but then Sky Sports cut away then when they cut back to him his was just in his budgie smugglers! Absolute scenes.

Couple of people have commented on Kone "missing a sitter". It wasn't.

Having looked at the Sky highlights I can see why it might look that way if you were watching on the TV and the commentator said something along those lines too but from my seat behind that goal it was a really difficult chance. He was wide of the goal and almost on the line, the angle he would have had to get it in was crazy. It would have been something special for him to score, not a sitter in any way.

I thought that instead of going for goal first time, he had time to control the ball & stroke it in.

Of course, it'a a lot easier to make that conclusion watching rather than when the ball is arriving at your feet!

I thought Madsen was the Don tonight. Ran the show at times. I thought Varane's defensive work was superb too. It's taken a bit of time, but the manager has shown faith in these two together and I think it's starting to pay off.

To think that this time last season he was being compared to Andre the friendly ghost Dozzell because he was the 6.4ft midfielder pulling out of challenges and afraid to head the ball. What a complete turnaround. Hats off to Madsen, who is now showing why he was signed on a reported 5 year deal.

Credit also to Stephan for recognising that Madsen as a deep lying midfielder is able to read the game and deal with situations in matches better than he was in a more advanced role last season.

RND has been a very good signing.

I grew up on Clement/Gillard, Dawes/Neill; I love a solid no-frills full-back.

You can add Bardsley and Wilson to those two sets of full backs. I don't think we have had a similarly good pair, although Orr and Hill were also quite good.

re KONEA CHANCE, could he have gone for a header?
big win. i mean it is nose bleed time and exciting. when brum scored i felt, eff this it's done but we went straight at em and morgan fired a beauty to win it with almost the last kick.
thought we played well nardi still gives us the jitters but he did make saves vital at the time.

Nah don't think so. At the time I thought he should have scored; in the pub mate said it the cross was at pace and was a tough chance. Seeing it on the highlights I thought it was still scoreable.

Anyway didn't matter in the end

I think this has been suggested if/when Kone goes to Afcon and Chair is not available. It’s a very sensible choice imo. Morgan to play alongside Varane.
