Mad to think we've won 6 out of 7 yet I came away from last night and to a lesser extent the Brum game feeling a bit angry.

Going forward we are potentially the best in the league but unless we get 4 in front or the opponents get a man sent off our atrocious defenders will always allow them a route back into the game.

Where did i say it was the fans fault ?

Pat from Poole summed it up perfectly

"Most around me spent the majority of the game on their phones.

"I gave up in the second-half. Don’t see why I should lose my voice when everybody else just sings when we score and not at any other time. Apart from that Scouse shite.

"The team deserve a whole lot better."

The atmosphere in the ground was dreadful, I actually made the point that both the fans & the players were complacent, they sat back and thought the game was won.

I also made the point that in the dying minutes those that were still in the ground raised the roof and stirred up the players, I also said that the main thing was we got three points.

Everyone who was at the game has said that the atmosphere was dreadful, should we just ignore that and pretend it wasn't happening.

I am really not sure what your problem is here

The last 12 hours on here is living proof (if it was ever needed) that supporting the Saints is something that should only be done under the strictest of medical supervision.

Has anyone suffered any of the following issues this season:

1.Hoping we would lose games under Still in order to hasten his exit.

2.Fearing to celebrate our 6 out of 7 run cos we might lose the next 6 and look like dicks.

These are well known and understandable symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia and nothing to worry about (too much).

Took my grandson to school bus earlier (13 y.o. Spurs fan) and told him of our 6 out of 7.He started waving his hands about and shouting 6-7, 6-7,6-7 which I believe is a current "thing"...I told him he would be laughing on the other side of his face when we bring back National Service.

Don't forget your medication when you get home Grandad says he on leaving the car.

The one thing that was clear last night is we do need another striker. We couldn’t get up the pitch in the second half due to the absence of a forward who holds the ball up. Once Armstrong runs out of steam we couldn’t get in their half for a sustained period. If Stewart remains injured we should look for a striker to support Armstrong. Archer doesn’t fit the bill and Downs clearly isn’t good enough.

On the fans "finding our voices" in the final minutes after feeling very frustrated watching that second half, that was in some part due to Tonda turning into Denis Rolf but with white trainers rather than the white t shirt!

On the fans "finding our voices" in the final minutes after feeling very frustrated watching that second half, that was in some part due to Tonda turning into Denis Rolf but with white trainers rather than the white t shirt!

You're right, Tonda whipped up the crowd, asking them to find their voice in the last couple of minutes to get the team over the line but he shouldn't have to should he?

A few thoughts - I fully understand the negativity when it's justified. I was accused of being negative by one or two, but it was true and I was right that Will Still was useless and the football was sh!t. I was one of those who did my bit to get Still out for rewards we are having now. I knew we had to get him out to get better times. I fully understand lower crowds and silence when that is the case. The club needs to know when the fans are understandably p!ssed off.

However, when the football is good (it is, it's exciting attacking football with lots of goals) and we have won 4 home games in a row and on the verge of the playoffs, the fans should be giving more. I was there last night and would never miss a game (even if it means putting on a coat!!!) I was singing and fully behind the players last night because they were giving me a great performance back. Was there 26000 against Spurs last season when we lost 5 nil? No, it was full. How come it's sold out for an evening PL game? Are some fans really scared of a bit of drizzle or only acceot drizzle when we are playing a PL.side? The tickets last night were cheap as a category C game. Get yourself there and help get this team back to the PL. It does annoy me a bit that all the fans will be there for the final day won't they, and they were all there against the big clubs in the premier league. Can't get there because it's a winters night and dont have Son to take a picture of?

As for the atmosphere, when there are empty seats everywhere, it makes it harder to get things going. But again, why did people leave on he 86th minute when the game was in the balance? As always, I stayed to the end. When the team is playing so well, yes it does annoy me. And at times, it was like a morgue. Why? Can't be bothered to sing? Too tired? Don't care? As I said, I am one of the fans moaning and booing when it's deserved. But at the moment, the games are exciting, we are winning, they are giving their all, so roar them on back to the PL. So I am a bit peeved that so many couldn't be bothered to turn up last night, left with ten minutes to go, and needed our manager to whip them up as they sit there in silence.

Just another point on this, moving the away fans has been a disaster. The singers are bored not having any away fans to take the p!ss out of. No banter, no aggro, so many just sit there looking at their phones.

Hi Southamptonfan, as you've replied to my post I agree with you, I stayed until the end, as I did for Spurs last season and commented on how you could leave early at such a vital time but I guess if your on a train or ferry or whatever you consider a valid reason personally you might not have a choice? As you say it is annoying and last season especially seemed to have a lot of "tourist" fans on their phones but I guess that's the new generation of people attending matches versus the majority on here who are in my age category as I suspect you are. My point though was the comparison with Denis Rolf all those years ago and it's good to see that passion coming from the Tonda. Anyway, it's great to see such exciting football again and winning, so long may it last.

First time in St.Marys for over 10 years. I was surprised by the empty seats, but considering the mitigating factors listed above i guess it makes sense.
The crowd were indeed crap. Could not believe when people started leaving with around 5 mins to go, when the game was on a knife edge.
The rousing chorus from the Northam in the dying minutes of injury time was amazing though, and visibly lifted the team. Pardon my ignorance (as i say, havent been for nearly 10 years) but what were they singing?

I am a season ticket holder and have been for over 30 years, so I go to every game. Moving the away fans hasn't made the atmosphere better at all. The away support are right next to sparse fans who just sit there in silence.

People near me the other end, are walking around the stadium at half time, to get near the away support, in the empty blocks next to the away support which are 75 per cent empty. The "banter" is what some fans want. Nothing wrong with that.

Why did Nick and others question the atmosphere? "I think some of it was complacency, in the second half the ground was like a morgue". The atmosphere was questioned because it was poor. Why is it poor if there is a whole end of Saints fans and we are winning 3 nil? When the Northam was half and half, the "banter" between the two sets of fans right next to each other, kept things going.

I think the atmosphere in the second half against WBA was more to do with the second half display from the team.
Tonda praised the fans for their support and that was probably a lot to do with the Northam.
If some fans want to stand next to the away fans I don't have a problem with that, but I would prefer that the most vocal of our fans remain in their end(The Northam) and support the team, together we are stronger.
